My movement journey began quite early. At a young age I found out I have both scoliosis and kyphosis. Scoliosis is the sideways curvature of the spine and kyphosis is a forward rounding of the back. In the 3rd grade I was put in a back brace which actually worsened my conditions. It wasn’t until a a new doctor recommended keeping my body active that I realized the importance of exercise and mindful movement on my body.
Through exercise and mindful movement I was able to reduce the effects of scoliosis and kyphosis on my spine as my bones grew. Introducing yoga and strength training to my active life has even more enhanced my awareness of my body and how to understand what is best for it. I am endlessly fascinated by the benefits of movement and breathing on both the mind and body.
My bachelor’s in Neuroscience has further inspired my fascination with the brain and decision to start teaching meditation. Today, I am at my happiest and at my best when I remain active and do activities that focus on my body- yoga, rock climbing, running, strength training, hiking, walking, you name it.
My goal as a yoga teacher and strength trainer is to inspire you to be curious, open minded and compassionate as you invest in both your body and your mind through curated movement. My classes and courses offer insight into your own bodies so that you can learn what postures are best so that you can compassionately and lovingly connect to your strong self.
